Our Purpose
The purpose of this website is to create and provide a friendly community where people can download and share themes freely. Our goal is to respond to feedback from our users by creating functionalities that will benefit the community as a whole. We know the demographic of the Nintendo DS is very broad, thus we will keep this website as user friendly as possible.
How it all got started...
As a former Sony PSP owner, I always felt there was a lack of good games for the platform. I started thinking about the Nintendo DS and the larger volume of games available for it. During Spring 2007 school semester, my teaching assistant happened to have a Nintendo DS with him at his TA session. This was the first time I actually had the opportunity to mess around with it. By luck, my TA also introduced me to the M3DS Simply adapter. A week later, I researched more into the capabilities of the M3DS Simply and finally decided to purchase one. Unfortunately, at that time, they were out of stock. I then stumbled across the alternative, R4DS. More research was done to see what the similarities and differences were. Couple of days later, I purchased the R4DS.
So here comes the fun part. I began noticing that R4DS and M3DSS themes were scattered throughout forums and buried in long threads. There was no central area of collecting themes in an organized fashion. So I thought to myself, there might be an opportunity here to start a new dot com. I started searching for websites that perhaps have already accomplished this. To my dismay, I did not find any good sites that provided this service. I started thinking about using my web development skills to perhaps develop some sort of theme site for the DS. Although, at first, I was quite skeptical because would a site just for themes even have enough growth potential to be worthy of the time and effort needed to construct it? However, since there was little competition, a well developed website could have a high potential. I decided to give the website a try. Development of NDSthemes started around March 15, 2007. On March 22, 2007 NDSthemes.com officially launched with it's first marketing campaign at the official R4DS forums.
What's Next?
NDSthemes is always looking for ways to improve the user experience and to expand its market. Improving user experience includes incorporating functionalities on the website that help users determine the best themes for them, whether it is providing a ranking, rating, and downloading system or a search feature. There is always work to be done to better NDSthemes. To expand the market of NDSthemes, we see it as adding new Nintendo DS adapters. This provides the opportunity of new users visiting the website. We always listen to user feedback in the forums and respond to them accordingly.
Admins
Admins are the core of NDSthemes.com. They review themes, monitor comments, and oversee the wellness of this site.
Moderators
Moderators help maintain order in the comments world. They make sure users are leaving constructive feedback.
